It is that time again — baby makin’ season is upon us. I put out an article last year for a nice mix of music for the ice-mageddon of 2011 to keep everyone warm. It was right around Valentine’s Day, so it worked that the Baby Makin’ List was released at such an appropriate time.
This year, I’m opting for another great list of music to get the mojo rising, but I’m going a harder route. (Get it?) This is my list of Baby Makin’ music for the metal/hard rock lover. Upon first meeting, people do not typically assume that I love hard rock and metal, but yes I do. With passion. So to prove this, and that metal and hard rock can be sexy, here is a list sure to get you goin’, keep you warm and those babies a-makin’.
There is a little bit of an order, but if you want to change it up, feel free. It’s all about the flow of the music (and motion of the ocean, eh? (nudge nudge)) But also be aware that Dave Grohl appears four times on this countdown of 10. Yeah, sorry about that. Just purely coincidental…?
Deftones – Change (In the House of Flies) – Not their hardest song, and a bit commercial, but seriously, the sexiness of this song is off the charts. Did I mention I’ve hung out with the band? Seriously. I met Abe Cunningham at my old job and he invited me onto their bus for beers. I will say they are a great group of dudes, and Chino is still totally hot.
Tool – Stinkfist — While the name is a little gross (I’m sure you can guess what a ‘Stinkfist’ is), the song is a slow paced yet loaded song that can get any one in the mood for metal style baby makin’. It rocks, yet Tool is known to also have surprisingly sensitive and vulnerable songs. Even if the title is a little…gross.
Queens of the Stone Age — Burn the Witch – QOTSA is a sexy band. Period. I could have many songs that are baby makin’ from them, but this one speaks the most to me. It has a slinky, yet powerful double beat, slower yet paced song laced with sexy guitar solos, and of course Josh Homme’s incredibly sexy voice. Take a listen and TELL me it doesn’t do anything to you.
The Doors — Texas Roadhouse – A classic band need to part of this. And no classic rock band says sexy like Jim Morrison and The Doors. This song begs for a glass of whiskey and a sexy dance. Don’t mind if I do!
Let it roll, baby, roll….all night long.
Probot – Shake Your Blood – I had to include something that has Lemmy, because nothing says rock and roll like Lemmy of Motorhead, plus this video is really hot if you are into hot ladies doing really odd things to each other. I woudn’t know, but to each their own.
I really do like this song as it has a great, well written chorus and gives an aggressive, sexy, beat that keeps the hips movin’ and groovin’ for makin’ (babies, that is – Plus Grohl is on drums, that’s probably why it also sounds awesome).
Megadeth — Symphony of Destruction / Prince of Darkness – I couldn’t decide between these two songs. True, one is about war and the other is about the devil, but the tone of both songs gives an overall feeling of metal sexiness. I am a big Megadeth fan, and I think they truly personify metal. Fast, loud, aggressive, angry, and insane guitar solos. But all that aggression can get someone hot and bothered…Take a listen to both and you can choose.
Metallica – Fuel – Classic hard rock and metal. Fast, aggressive, and about racing cars. Hot. Between the grunts, guitar riffs & solos, and a great driving beat, how can you not get a little hot after this song?
Them Crooked Vultures – Warsaw – Start this song and dance. It will come naturally. It will take you over and before you know it, you are performing something so naturally unnatural you will wonder what the hell happened. That’s the power of Them Crooked Vultures and this song. Wait for the bridge, it’s the best part.
Foo Fighters – Everlong – And we get to this: When I was 11 or 12 years old, my love for Dave began. And because we’ve had such a long relationship, I cannot take out the first times I felt a connection between us (okay, him and his music). But this song really gave me a ‘funny feeling’ when I was younger, and I never shook it. It is still a crazy sexy song. It still has that raw melody and sexy chord structure that just does it for me. I’m sure it does something for many of you as well.
Led Zeppelin – When the Levee Breaks – Those Bonzo drum beats will get you every time. Heavy and hard (hee hee), you can tell the big sticks (hee hee) are being used on the drum kit.
